GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Alexis Wallace recorded a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds and the Methodist women's basketball team held Greensboro to 33.3 percent shooting in posting a 70-62 win at Mayo C. Harlow Court on Wednesday evening.

Wallace, one of four Monarchs to reach double figures in scoring, helped Methodist improve to 8-3 overall and remain perfect in the USA South at 4-0. The Pride slipped to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in the league.

After taking a 29-24 lead into the locker room, the Monarchs outscored GC 21-15 in the third quarter for an 11-point edge (50-39) entering the final period. Methodist opened the third period with a quick 8-2 burst to push out to a 37-26 lead. Wallace scored the first two buckets for MU, and Jalisia Campbell and Jasmine Canady followed with scores in the opening 3:45.

The Pride trimmed their deficit to six points (40-34) with 4:58 in the quarter, but a 7-2 run by MU, including four points from Alexia Hines, re-established MU's lead at 11 points with 2:21 left in the third.

Methodist's lead reached 13 points (52-39) early in the fourth quarter before a 14-4 run by Greensboro, capped by Kamerin Williams's layup in transition, made it 56-53 with 4:19 play. Wallace answered with a pair of free throws to halt the run, and Methodist once again went up 11 (66-55), this time with under a minute to play.
