RALEIGH, N.C. -- A dominant third quarter propelled the Methodist women's basketball team to a 63-37 win at William Peace on Wednesday evening at the Hermann Athletic Center.

The Monarchs (10-4, 5-1 USA South) outscored the Pacers (5-12, 0-9 USA South) expanded on a 19-14 lead at the half by outscoring WPU 25-9 in the third quarter to assume a 44-23 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Alexis Wallace scored 12 points in the period, hitting 3-of-3 field-goal attempts and 6-of-6 attempts from the line.

Sydney Bryan opened the scoring for MU in the third, knocking down a trio of attempts from the charity stripe. Wallace and
Jasmine Canady added layups for a 26-14 lead before Susannah Sykes got the Pacers on the board with a trey at the 6:14 mark. Wallace capped a 12-0 run with a layup for a 38-17 lead by the 2:43 mark and the Monarchs were never threatened the remainder of the game.

The Monarchs held a 49-39 edge on the boards and forced 28 turnovers on the night.

Wallace finished with a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds and was a perfect 9-for-9 at the charity stripe. Bryan added eight points, and Canady had six points, six assist and six steals.

For William Peace, Sykes had 12 points. Alexis Armstrong had six points and five boards.

The Monarchs return to action Friday at Maryville beginning at 5:30 pm.
