FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's basketball team tied a season-high with seven three-point field goals en route to an 84-75 win over Greensboro on Sunday afternoon at the Riddle Center.

After falling behind 8-7 at the 3:31 mark of the first quarter, Methodist (14-9, 9-6 USA South) closed the quarter on an 11-0 run to take an 18-8 lead after 10 minutes of play.
Alexis Wallace started the run with a three for a 10-8 lead, and
Sydney Bryan followed with a jumper after a Greensboro turnover. Wallace then split a pair of free throws, and
Alexia Hines came up with a steal and scored in transition for a 15-8 lead at the 1:01 mark. Another turnover by the Pride resulted in a three pointer by
Monique Lofton for an 18-8 lead after one.

The Monarchs continued to pressure GC (14-10, 10-5 USA South) in the second quarter, extending their lead to as many as 15 points (36-21) at the 3:24 mark before the Pride used a 12-3 run to close to within six points (39-33) with 24 seconds until halftime.
Jalisia Campbell closed out the half with a layup for a 41-33 MU lead at the break.

Greensboro pulled to within five points (52-47) at the 4:13 mark following Alyssa Carbone's four-point play, but the Monarchs once again used a strong surge, 17-8, to close out the stanza and take a 69-55 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Pride made one run at MU in the fourth, trimming their deficit to six points (74-68) with six minutes to play.
Ayanna Pegues and
Alexis Wallace answered with back-to-back jumpers for a 10-point lead (78-68) and Pegues would give MU a 15-point lead (83-68) with 2:37 to play as MU completed the season sweep of the Pride.

Methodist hit 46.4 percent of its field goal attempts (32-69), and finished 7-of-16 (.438) from the arc. Greensboro shot 44.8 percent (30-67) for the game and out rebounded MU, 43-40. Methodist also committed just 13 turnovers, one off its season low, while forcing the Pride into 18.

Wallace led all scorers with 25 points and added nine rebounds. Pegues had 14 points and eight boards, and
Jalisia Campbell totaled seven points and 10 boards.
Allison Dones handed out nine assists, and
Alexia Hines had eight points, three steals and two assists.

Kamerin Williams led GC with 15 points and with rebounds. Monica Smalls scored 12 points, as did Carbone. Courtney Pearsal chipped in six points and six rebounds, and Marla Crawford added five points six assists and four boards.

The Monarchs will now await word on their first round opponent for the upcoming USA South Tournament.
