MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Methodist softball team fell twice to Huntingdon College on Sunday afternoon, 4-2 and 3-1.

Down 2-0 in the first game, the Monarchs (6-26, 2-12 USAS) got on the board in the third when
Kelsey Harrington sent a sacrifice fly to left field to score
Ashley Benge.
Â
The Hawks (15-17, 9-7 USAS) scored their last runs of the game in the home half of the inning on a pair of errors committed by the Monarchs.

MU tallied their final score in the fourth when
Alanna Anderson was able to score on an error by Huntingdon's catcher.
Â
Anderson finished 1-for-3 with one scored run and
Kristen Bailly was 1-for-2 and drew two walks.
Â
Emily Hester (1-9) took the loss, tossing the first 3.0 innings and allowing four runs (1 ER) on seven hits.
Christine Bowman pitched the final 3.0 innings and allowed no runs and just two hits with two strikeouts.

In game two, the Hawks scored one run in the first three innings to gain an early 3-0 lead.

Methodist's only score came in the fifth inning when Harrington homered to left field.
Â
Harrington finished 3-for-4 and
Natalie High was 1-for-3.

Nicole Heinrich (3-10) was saddled with the loss after pitching the final 1.2 innings in relief for starting pitcher
Hannah Key and allowing two runs on one hit. Key tossed the first 4.1 innings and gave up one run on four hits.

Huntingdon's pitchers Raina Lanier, Kerri Reed and Jessica Swindle combined to hold Methodist to eight hits and three runs in the two games.

Lanier (7-8) earned the win in game one, allowing four hits and one earned run in seven innings. Reed (3-7) started game two and earned the win in 4.1 innings, allowing three hits and one run. Swindle closed out the game and picked up her second save of the weekend with three strikeouts, a walk and a hit in 2.2 innings.

Methodist will travel to Rocky Mount, N.C. on Apr. 6 to take on N.C. Wesleyan at 2:00 pm.
