FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's lacrosse team closed out its regular season in emphatic fashion, defeating Sweet Briar 22-1 on Saturday afternoon at Monarch Stadium.

The Monarchs (8-7) outshot SBC (1-5), 47-6, and scored the game's first 13 goals in snapping a brief two-game losing streak.
Emily Creasy led the onslaught with four goals, and
Madison Ronelli added three. Six other Monarchs notched at least two goals and 11 different players scored in all.

Methodist needed less than five minutes to take a 6-0 lead.
Sareena Coleman opened the scoring at 29:14, and Ronelli made it 2-0 just nine seconds after that.
Renee Burt's goal at the 28:22 mark gave MU a 3-0 lead before Coleman scored her second goal for a 4-0 advantage with 27:13 left in the first half.

Yasmin Martin and Burt added goals for the aforementioned 6-0 lead with 26:14 showing on the clock. Seven more goals, including two from
Bianca Terenzi gave MU a 13-0 lead by the 13:28 mark before Elizabeth Phaup scored the Vixens' lone goal of the day to make it 13-1.

Creasy closed out the scoring in the first half and scored the first two goals of the second half for a 16-1 lead with 27:10 to play as MU's offense continued to pressure.

Emily Williams made nine saves in the cage for Sweet Briar in taking the loss.
Molly O'Hara got the start for MU and made two saves on the day.

In addition to her three goals, Ronelli added six draw controls and Creasy had three ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls.
Emily Brennen finished with two goals and two assists while also collecting two ground balls and two draw controls.

The Monarchs will now prepare to take on Meredith in the USA South Semifinals on Friday beginning at 11:00 am in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Methodist enters as the No. 4 seed and the Avenging Angels are the tournament's top seed.
