ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The Methodist women's basketball was defeated, 69-54, by N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday evening at Everett Gymnasium.

Jalisia Campbell led the Monarchs with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Lillian Geehring added 12 points and four boards, and
Sydney Bryan chipped in 10 points for MU.

Timyra Staton led the Bishops with a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds. KeChae Parker added 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Monarchs (2-10, 0-1 USA South) trailed by just four points at the break, 31-27, but the Bishops (6-7, 1-1) outscored Methodist 28-16 in the third quarter to assume a 16-point lead entering the final stanza. Leading by six points midway through the period, N.C. Wesleyan closed the period on a 14-4 run to take a 59-43 lead into the final 10 minutes.

Campbell hit a jumper for the Monarchs to open the fourth period, but MU could get no closer than 14 points the remainder of the way.

Methodist shot 44.9 percent (22-49) as a team compared to 36.6 percent (26-71) for NCWC, but the Bishops owned a 48-30 edge on the glass, including a 29-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. The Monarchs also shot 10 of 19 from the free-throw line (.526), while N.C. Wesleyan hit on 17 of 24 attempts (.708).
