Box Score FERRUM, Va. -- The Methodist women's soccer team benefitted from a Ferrum own goal two minutes into overtime to come away with a 2-1 OT win over the Panthers on Sunday evening at W.B. Adams Stadium.

With the win, the Monarchs won for the fourth time in their last five games and improved to 5-8 overall and 4-1 in the league. Ferrum fell to 7-8 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.

Methodist's game-winning goal came when a Ferrum defender tried to clear a free kick out of the box, but the ball caromed off her head and into the back of the net past a helpless Taylor Dodson.

After a scoreless first half, despite 17 combined shots in the opening 45 minutes, Ferrum got on the board first when Aina Tuck scored off a feed from Frances Best in the 50th minute. Ferrum's lead stood until the 74th minute when
Sara Snotherly took a pass from
Haley Bowles and slipped a shot past Dodson to make it 1-1.

On the game, MU out shot Ferrum 17-15, including 11-9 in shots on goal. Dodson made nine saves in the contest, while
Emily Benton came up with eight saves to pick up her fourth win of the season (4-4).
