ASHLAND, Va. --
Christian Sanders scored 11 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team as the Methodist women's basketball team dropped a 72-41 contest to Randolph-Macon on the final day of the R-MC Tip Off Classic host by Riesbeck Contracting on Saturday afternoon.

Sanders averaged 12.0 points over the two games, to go with 4.0 rebounds. She was the lone Monarch (0-2) in double figures on Saturday, shooting 5 of 13 from the floor with a pair of assists.
Kodi Centry added eight points, and
Kadie Snipes chipped in six off the bench.

The Yellow Jackets (2-1) scored the game's first six points and raced out to a 12-2 lead prompting a timeout from the Monarch bench. An 8-2 run by R-MC out of the break gave the hosts a 20-4 lead with under three minutes in the opening quarter, and the Yellow Jackets took a 20-10 lead after one.

Randolph-Macon outscored the Monarchs 20-10 once again in the second period and led 40-20 at the half and cruised to the win.

Kelly Williams led R-MC with 25 points and 18 rebounds. Elsie Knobloch added 10 points and four steals, while Charlotte Woods totaled eight points and 10 boards.

Randolph-Macon boasted a 53-35 edge on the glass and won the turnover battle 27-17 while posting 21 steals. R-MC also got to the free throw line 33 times, making 19, while MU was 8 of 16 from the line.

The Monarchs will return to action on Tuesday when they host No. 2 Christopher Newport at 6 pm.
