MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- A fast start by Huntingdon led to a 55-7 win for the Hawks over the Methodist football team on Saturday afternoon at Samford Stadium.

The Hawks (8-1, 6-0 USA South) raced out to a 35-7 lead by halftime over the Monarchs (1-8, 1-5) and never looked back. Four different HC players scored rushing touchdowns, including three from Dontavion Cunningham, as the Hawks rolled up 366 rushing yards as a team.

E'Montie Dears led the Monarchs with 60 yards rushing and scored the lone MU touchdown on a one-yard run late in the second quarter that made it a 28-7 game.

Huntingdon scored on each of its first three drives of the contest for a 21-0 lead after the first quarter, and added scores on its final two possessions of the first half. The Hawks punted just one time in the contest.

Steve Keoni was 11 of 27 passing for 114 yards with one interception. He added 51 yards rushing on eight carries.
Xzavier McNeil gained 55 yards on a pair of receptions and
Dylan Cummings hauled in seven passes for 51 yards.

Defensively, MU was led by
Dennis Livers, who made eight tackles.
Nathan Jones and
Akil Gause each had seven stops, and
Teddy Wilkerson made six tackles with a sack and a forced fumble.

Eric Thomas ran for 161 yards and a touchdown for Huntingdon and Vic Jerald added 99 yards on 14 carries with a score. Cunningham picked up 57 yards on eight carries, and Kobe Smith carried eight times for 52 yards and a touchdown. Chip Taylor completed 8 of 10 passes for 237 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Otis Porter caught three passes for 140 yards and one score.

The Hawks defense was paced by Linell Tarver, who had 10 tackles and a sack. Trey Hayes added seven tackles, and Charlie Jones chipped in six tackles, a sack and an interception.

Methodist will close out its season next Saturday when it hosts N.C. Wesleyan at 1 pm.
