PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- The Methodist women's lacrosse team wrapped up its spring break trip to Florida with a 19-11 loss to John Carroll on Thursday night.

With the result, the Monarchs drop to 4-4 on the season, while the Blue Streaks move to 3-2 overall.

MU scored the game's first goal just 10 seconds after the opening whistle with a goal by
Monti Hendrix, 1-0. JCU responded with seven goals over the next 15 minutes to extend a 7-1 lead. The Monarchs got one goal back at the 11:19 mark when Hendrix assisted
Sareena Coleman to cut the lead to 7-2. The Blue Streaks recorded three more goals before
Lindsey Earles gained one back as JCU went into halftime with a 10-2 lead.

The two sides alternated goals early in the second period with goals from
Kaelyn Holland, Coleman and
Emily Brennen, the Monarchs cut the lead to 13-6 with 21:29 left in regulation. JCU scored again to regain an eight-goal advantage before MU strung four-straight goals, including two from Brennen, to work the lead down to four goals, 14-10. In the last 12 minutes of play, the Blue Streaks posted five of the last six goals to take a 19-11 final.

Brennen recorded three goals, while Hendrix recorded three points on two goals and one assist. Coleman and Earles each finished with two goals, while
Renee Burt and Holland tallied one each. The Monarchs were credited with six ground balls as Hendrix, Holland and
Tori Manahan each recorded two.

Jannelle Gant allowed nine goals in 20:46 in the cage to take the loss.
Molly O'Hara came in for the final 39:14 and made five saves with 10 goals allowed.

John Carroll held a 32-23 edge in shots and an 11-6 advantage in ground balls, while MU earned 18 draw controls compared to 14.

Methodist returns to action on March 15 in USA South action against Meredith at Monarch Stadium beginning at 4:30 pm.
