RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Methodist softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader with William Peace on Sunday. The Monarchs lost the first game 2-0 before falling in the seventh inning of game two, 5-4.

With the results, the Monarchs drop to 8-28 overall with a 5-15 record in conference play. Meanwhile, the Pacers close their regular season with a 20-20 mark on the year and a 12-9 record in conference play.

In game one, the game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning. The Pacers opened the inning with consecutive hits before a two-run double to left field to give WPU a 2-0 lead, which held to the conclusion.

Aly Thomas was charged with the loss after tossing 2.0 innings and surrendered two runs on three hits.
Heidi Foreman got the start and pitched 4.0 scoreless innings and scattered four hits. Kelsey Durham received the victory as she pitched a complete-game shutout. She yielded five hits and struck out six.

The Monarchs recorded five total hits with five different players posting a base hit.

In game two, MU scored first. In the top of the fourth inning,
Samantha Jacobs led off with a single up the middle before Foreman also singled up the middle.
Jessica Orwick followed with an RBI that scored Jacobs.
Allyson Aycock followed with a hit in the infield that scored Foreman on an error, 2-0.
Britnie Adams recorded an RBI-single to center before Elie Gale scored
Lori Martin to give the Monarchs a 4-0 lead. The Pacers responded by scoring four runs on five hits in the bottom half of the frame to tie the game.

The contest remained tied until the bottom of the seventh inning where the home side recorded four-straight singles to push across the game-winning run, 5-4.

Thomas was strapped with the loss after tossing 2.1 innings and yielding one run on seven hits. Hespeler started in the circle and went 3.2 innings. She surrendered four runs on seven hits with a walk. Durham threw 3.0 innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory.

Jacobs went 2 for 4 at the plate in game two and scored once.
Jessica Orwick tallied one run and an RBI, while Adams and Gale posted an RBI. The Monarchs combined for five hits in the nightcap.
