FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's lacrosse team close out its 2017 season with a 27-6 win over Hollins on Saturday afternoon.

The Monarchs got goals from nine different players, including a career-best eight from
Kaelyn Holland, and six MU players scored at least two goals. Holland also added three assists for a career-high 11 points.

Methodist (9-7) outshot Hollins (1-9) by a 40-10 margin, including 25-7 in first half as MU built a 19-3 lead by halftime. The Monarchs dominated possession, winning 24 of 35 draw controls and picking up 20 ground balls to five for HU.

Methodist needed just 12 seconds to get on the scoreboard as
Monti Hendrix won the game's opening draw and ran through the Hollins defense for the first goal of the contest.

Hollins found an equalizer at the 29:23 mark to make it 1-1 on Valerie Helmbrecht's free-position goal. Holland scored her first goal of the game at 28:42 to make it 2-1, and Hendrix added a goal at 28:29 for a 3-1 lead.

Helmbrecht scored again at 27:10 to make it 3-2, but six straight goals from the Green and Gold, including three from Holland, made it 9-2 at 20:15. Hope Shaw scored for HU 31 seconds later to put the score at 9-3, but MU scored the final 10 goals of the first half and the first two of the second half to extend its lead to 21-3 with 19:20 remaining.

Emily Ewin started in goal and played the first half in picking up the win (2-1). She allowed three goals and made two saves. Jannelle Gant and
Molly O'Hara split the second half in the cage.Â
Tori Manahan added five goals for MU while also picking up three draw controls.
Sareena Coleman scored three goals, registered a pair of assists and claimed two draw controls.
Bianca Terenzi and Hendrix each finished with three goals, while Hendrix added five draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Madison Ronelli led MU with seven draw controls with a pair of goals and one assist.
Sarah Ewin had a pair of caused turnovers and four ground balls.
