Kaelyn Holland scored seven points (3g/4a),
Renee Burt (4g/1a) added five and the Methodist women's lacrosse team captured a 15-7 win at Piedmont on Saturday afternoon.

Holland notched three goals and four assists, while Burt scored four times with one helper as MU moved to 8-6 overall and 5-1 in league play. Piedmont fell to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the USA South. With the win, the Monarchs secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming USA South Tournament and will take on No. 3 Piedmont in the semifinals on Friday at LaGrange College beginning at 1:00 pm.

The Monarchs started quickly, getting four goals in the opening 10:05 for a 4-0 lead. Holland scored two of her goals and assisted on another during the run.

The Lions managed to pull within 7-4 on a Rowan Bumpass goal with 1:03 left in the first half to close out the scoring in the first period.

In the second half
Monti Hendrix opened the scoring and after Bumpass answered for Piedmont, Hendrix scored again to make it 9-5 with 25:06 to play. Caitlin O'Brien had one more answer for PC, but MU responded with six unanswered goals to assume a 15-6 lead with 4:34 to play. Piedmont closed out the scoring on Francesca Malabad's goal at the 3:23 mark.

Shots were even at 20 apiece, but
Jannelle Gant had eight saves for the Monarchs to earn the win. Piedmont picked up one more ground ball than MU, 14-13, the Monarchs won 14 draw controls to 10 for PC and turnovers were even at 22-22.

In addition to Burt and Holland, Henrix finished with three goals and an assist, and
Madison Ronelli scored three goals.
Bianca Terenzi caused two turnovers and added two ground balls, while
Sareena Coleman led the team with three draw controls. Hendrix added four ground balls.
