GREENSBORO, N.C. The Methodist men's soccer team fell to Greensboro College, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the USA South Athletic Conference tournament.
Carlos Barragan started the game with a goal for the home team in the second minute. Jacob Owens scored early in the second half to extend the Pride's lead to 2-0 before Barragan knocked in a penalty shot for another goal in the 60th minute.
The Monarchs finish the season with an overall record of 7-9-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Greensboro had 11 shots on target compared to just one shot on goal by Methodist. As a whole, the Pride put up 23 shots while the Monarchs registered seven.
- Greensboro took the lead less than two minutes into the match with the Barragan score off a Jordy Briceno assist.
- Briceno was close to earning another assist off of his corner kicks later in the first half but Asa Wessler and Barragan could not put their headers on target.
- The Monarchs had difficulty forming their attack, not registering their first shot until the 32nd minute. The second shot by Methodist came in the closing seconds of the first half.
- Conor Morris leveled a shot on frame in the 63rd minute, but goalkeeper Elmer Martinez came up with the stop.
- Jacob Owens scored in the 49th minute off of the rebound from Barragan's blocked shot.
- A yellow card awarded Barragan with a penalty kick that he ended up converting.
- Monarchs' goalkeeper Mohomed Dulleh could not save the first penalty shot but he did manage to earn a save off of Briceno's penalty kick in the 68th minute, diving to his left to deflect the shot wide of the post.
- In this physical matchup, there were 29 whistles for fouls and four yellow cards given out.
