STAUNTON, Va. -- Cauy Duboise's layup with two seconds to play lifted Mary Baldwin to a 70-69 win over the Methodist women's basketball team on Sunday afternoon.

Kodi Centry led the Monarchs (3-20, 3-11 USA South) with 23 points on 9 of 11 shooting and added four blocked shots.
Kadie Snipes had 13 points, and
Amber Scott added 10 points and five rebounds off the bench.

The Monarchs trailed by four points (62-58) with 8:26 to play before Scott converted a three-point play to make it 62-61 with 8:11 on the clock. MBU's (2-21, 1-14) Ayanni Seay converted a jumper for a 64-61 lead and was countered by a pair of free throws from Centry to make it -64-63 by the 6:02 mark.

Centry gave MU at 65-64 lead with a jumper at the 5:21 mark, and a pair of free throws from
Kayla Goldsmith pushed MU's lead to 67-64 with 2:34 to play. As the clock ticked below two minutes to play, Centry gave the Green & Gold a five-point lead (69-64) before the Fighting Squirrels mounted their comeback.

Kemper Snyder made a jumper for Mary Baldwin with 53 seconds to play that pulled the Fighting Squirrels to within three points at 69-66. After Goldsmith missed a pair of free throws with 25 seconds to play, Snyder drew a foul and converted a pair of charity tosses with eight seconds to play that pulled MBU to within a point at 69-68.

A Monarch turnover on the ensuing inbounds play led to Duboise's layup with two seconds to play in what proved to be the game winner.

Methodist shot 42.4 percent (25-59) from the floor and pulled down 40 rebounds, but converted on just 13 of 23 (.565) free-throw attempts. Mary Baldwin shot 40.9 percent (27-66) from the floor, and 8 of 21 (.381) from long range. Mary Baldwin pulled down 35 rebounds.

Duboise had 23 points and 12 rebounds for the Fighting Squirrels. Sydney added 16 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. Cheyanne Micheal added 13 points, and Nyla Isaac chipped in 11 points.
