10/31/2019 5:30:00 PM

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  Friday evening in the Matthews Ministry Center, the Methodist University Department of Athletics will be inducting its 2019 Hall of Fame class.

The announced induction class includes All-American men's golfer Mike Baker '84, All-American baseball player Billy Chapman '99, All-American and national champion women's golfer Kristina (Kavanagh) Blaylock '90, Methodist record holder and three-time All-USA South Athletic Conference softball player Adrienne (Midgley) Dombrowsky '02, and former football coach Jim Sypult (posthumously),. The Class of 2019 also includes Teams of Distinction from Women's Basketball (2001-02, 2002-03), the first two Monarch women's basketball teams to qualify for the NCAA Division III tournament.

Sypult was a fixture on the sidelines for 19 years, and is the all-time winningest coach in program history. He posted 10 seasons of .500 or better, his 1997 team finished 9-1 and nationally ranked, and his 2005 squad shared the USA South conference crown—a program first.

The Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach (DIAC) of the Year in 2000, Sypult would coach 13 All-Americans, 93 all-conference players, 2 DIAC defensive players of the year, 1 offensive player of the year and 1 rookie of the year during his time leading the Methodist program.

Friday's sold-out event begins with a 6:30 p.m. reception, followed at 7 p.m. by dinner and the induction ceremony.
