GREENSBORO, N.C. Down by eight points with under six minutes remaining to play against host Guilford College, Methodist men's basketball recovered to tie the game at 60-all with 33 seconds left before the Quakers made two free throws to ice the game and earn a 62-60 win over the Monarchs, in non-conference play Tuesday evening.
Dante Burden led Methodist with 15 points while
Garren Dearman added 14 points, including the game-tying three in the final minute, along with a team-high five rebounds and three steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dearman tied the game up at 60 with a three-pointer and an assist from Burden following a one-of-two trip at the free throw line by Guilford. Burden's layup plus the free throw cut the deficit to 59-57 with 55 seconds remaining in the game.
- Liam Ward's trey with 5:53 left gave the Quakers an eight-point, 57-49 lead. Nearly three minutes went by without another basket from either side until Burden's layup following his offensive rebound. A Kaymon Mitchell steal on the next Guilford possession led to a three-pointer from Malik Edwards to cut the deficit to 57-54.
- Tied at 60-60, Jorden Davis made both of his free throws to give the Quakers a two point lead with 13 seconds remaining. Dante Burden could not come connect on the potential game-tying layup with a second left.
- Manley's three-ball broke a 40-40 tie, capping off a 10-2 Methodist run to give the Monarchs their final lead of the game with just over 15 minutes left to play. An earlier trey from Manley kickstarted the run.
- Guilford held an early 15-9 first half lead before a 9-0 Methodist run led by Dearman, who had five points, two steals, and an assist in the two-minute span. The two teams then traded buckets back-and-forth until entering halftime with the score tied at 29.

- The Monarchs made up for getting outrebounded 38-26 by owning a 16-8 advantage in turnovers and a 18-2 edge in points off turnovers.
- Dearman had five rebounds, three steals, and two assists to go with his 14 points.
