HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Dearman tied the game up at 60 with a three-pointer and an assist from Burden following a one-of-two trip at the free throw line by Guilford. Burden's layup plus the free throw cut the deficit to 59-57 with 55 seconds remaining in the game.

Nearly three minutes went by without another basket from either side until Burden's layup following his offensive rebound. • Tied at 60-60, Jorden Davis made both of his free throws to give the Quakers a two point lead with 13 seconds remaining. Dante Burden could not come connect on the potential game-tying layup with a second left.
  • Manley's three-ball broke a 40-40 tie, capping off a 10-2 Methodist run to give the Monarchs their final lead of the game with just over 15 minutes left to play. An earlier trey from Manley kickstarted the run.
  • Guilford held an early 15-9 first half lead before a 9-0 Methodist run led by Dearman, who had five points, two steals, and an assist in the two-minute span. The two teams then traded buckets back-and-forth until entering halftime with the score tied at 29.
