MONTGOMERY, Ala. Methodist baseball downed 13th-ranked and host Huntingdon College, 8-3, Saturday afternoon in USA South Athletic Conference play.
The victory comes on the heel of the 17th-ranked Monarchs tough defeat to the Hawks Friday evening, with a third game in the series to played Sunday to break the draw.
The offensive production for Methodist came largely from the outfield. Outfielders
Clay Richardson,
Rob Wilkerson, and
Elliot Manley combined for seven hits, four runs scored, and three RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the game tied at 3-3 in the top of the sixth, the Monarchs responded with three runs off of four hits in the sixth, including a triple from Wilkerson. After Richardson led the inning off with a single and stole second, a Hawks' throwing error scored Richardson for the 4-3 score.
- Still holding the narrow lead, Methodist added a run in the eighth and ninth inning for assurance.
- Heath Haskins' two-RBI homerun tied the game at 3-all in the fifth after the Monarchs took an early 3-1 lead.
- Methodist started strong with Matthias Carter leading the game off with a single and Alex Kachler doubling to left center to score Carter two at-bats later. Richardson scored Kachler with a single through the left side.
STAT FACTS
- The combination of Tristen Luck and Will Walker allowed only eight hits and three earned runs. Walker pitched four scoreless innings of relief.
- Jacob Austin was the other Monarch with at least two hits. He had two in three at-bats.
- Carter drew two walks to go along with his lead-off single.
- Huntingdon left eight men stranded, including at least one runner in the last four innings. In the first inning, after scoring only one run, Huntingdon left the bases loaded, a pivotal moment that could have swung the tides early.
