MISENHEIMER, N.C. On the road for a USA South Athletic Conference matchup against Pfeiffer University, the Methodist women's lacrosse team was unable to recover from a first-half deficit and the Falcons held on for a 10-6 victory Saturday afternoon.
Pfeiffer jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first half. Although, the Monarchs never quit and were able to reel off three straight goals in the final 3:38 of game, giving Methodist much-needed momentum ahead of a four-game homestand against conference opponents.
Despite the score, Methodist actually outdid Pfeiffer in a couple of key areas. The Monarchs took 27 shots compared to the Falcons' 23; the shots on goal differential was 20-16 in favor of Methodist; as well, the Monarchs had 12 draw control wins, doubling up the host Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons opened the game with three unanswered goals en route to a 7-1 lead entering halftime. Starnice Galloway and Startraya Galloway scored five of Pfeiffer's goals in the first period.
- Sarah Ewin scored the first goal of the second half to cut the deficit to 7-2. Ewin also scored the Monarchs' lone goal in the first half. The Falcons, however, responded with a 3-1 run that gave Pfeiffer a 10-3 lead with less than five minutes to play.
- Methodist reeled off three straight goals in the final 3:38 to end the game with scores from Monti Hendrix, Lindsay Brennan, and Lily Eisenhart.
