STAUNTON, Va. Methodist's women's tennis team powered its way to a 9-0 USA South Athletic Conference victory Saturday morning at Mary Baldwin University.
The Monarchs did not surrender a game while sweeping the three doubles matches, then finished off singles play with a near shutout of the Fighting Squirrels.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodists doubles tandems won in order, Nos. 1, 2 and 3 rolling to their shutout victories.
- Taylor Jackson and Jill Lawrence earned the first point at 1-doubles, followed soon after by the Abby's -- Abby Caddick and Abby Siracusa -- and then by the final pairing of Sydni Lewis and Allyson Hays at No. 3.
- Jackson steamrolled MBU's Julia Kelly, 6-0 an 6-0, at 1-singles, and Lawrence scored the same knockout victory at No. 2 for the match-clinching point.
- Caddick at No. 3, Casey Carroll at No. 5 and Siracusa at No. 6 each finished without surrendering a single game during their wins, while Jessica Tucker took care of business at No. 4, downing Olivia Anderson 6-0 and 6-1.

- The Monarchs, ranked No. 20 in the ITA Atlantic South region, travel to Danville, Va., on April 13 to take on host Averett University in a league bout.
