FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Head women's golf coach
Tom Inczauskis has been named the 2019 Thomas R. and Elizabeth E. McLean Foundation Coach of the Year, as announced by the Methodist University department of athletics Friday morning.
In its 11th year, the award recognizes the head coach at the University who has demonstrated outstanding achievement on and off the field during the preceding academic year, as voted on by a committee of staff and faculty members.
Inczauskis, who also earned the award in 2012, becomes the third multiple winner of the award, joining baseball coach
Tom Austin (2013, 2018) and men's golf coach
Steve Conley (2010, 2015).
In his 10 seasons as the head coach of the women's program, Inczauskis has led the Monarchs to historic successes in NCAA Division III women's golf, winning championships in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and most recently finishing third at the 2019 championship.
Two Monarchs from the 2018-19 squad -- freshman
Jillian Drinkard and senior
Peyton Durham -- garnered Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American honors this season. Drinkard was also voted the WGCA Division III Freshman of the Year, and Drinkard and junior
Morgan Bowen were tabbed for WGCA All-East Region selections.
Durham, Drinkard and Bowen were joined by freshman
Alexandra Williams on the WGCA Scholar All-American Team, bringing the number of individuals from the program to earn that national academic honor to 21. This was also Durham's fourth consecutive year to earn WGCA scholar recognition.
