Dante Burden and
Kaymon Mitchell combined for 43 points on 22 shots as Methodist men's basketball outclassed host Greensboro College, 84-75, in USA South Athletic Conference Tuesday evening.
The Monarchs came out with a vengeance and a fire to snap their four-game losing streak. Methodist took a 47-21 lead into halftime and never trailed. Ahead 23-17 at the six-minute mark, the Monarchs went on an incredible 19-0 run to lead 42-17 with under two minutes to play in the half.
Burden had a team-high 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting. He added four rebounds and tied the team-high with three assists and two steals. Mitchell scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting with five rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kevin McLaughlin Jr. scored nine consecutive points, including two shots from long range to put the finishing touches on the 19-0 run. In that span, the Monarchs held Greensboro to 0-7 shooting from the field with three turnovers. Alternatively, Methodist shot 7-of-10 from the field.
- Garren Dearman scored the opening bucket and McLaughlin Jr. broke a 2-2 tie to give Methodist the edge for good. McLaughlin Jr.'s basket was the start of a 11-2 run as the Monarchs went up 13-4.
- In the first half, Methodist had a 11-0 advantage on points off of turnovers, an 11-2 edge in the fastbreak, and a 26-6 edge in points in paint.
- Altogether, the Monarchs shot 20-of-34 (57 percent) on field goals in the first half, compared to the Pride's going 7-of-29 (24 percent) from the field in the opening stanza.
STAT FACTS
- McLaughlin Jr. was the only other Monarch in double-digits with 15 points, plus five boards, three assists, and two steals.
- Calvin Manley had eight and six with points and rebounds while Dearman also had eight points but with a team-high nine boards.
- Eric Peaks, Jr. scored a game-high 23 points for Greensboro.

- Methodist is in Misenheimer, N.C. to take on host Pfeiffer University on Saturday, February 8 at 4 p.m. The two teams previously faced off in Fayetteville on January 21. The Falcons won 112-110 in double overtime.
