HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the sweep of the three doubles matches against Bridgewater, Megan Kidd added a fourth point with her straight-set, 6-1, 6-1, victory at No. 3 singles.
- Alex Pratt provided the match-clinching point with a 1 and 2 win at 4-singles.
- The other two Monarch points followed, but both went down to the wire.
- Abby Caddick at No. 1 dropped her first set (6-4) to Whitney Kiser, but responded with a 6-3 win in the second and then a 1-0 (10-8) tiebreak win in the third.
- Jill Lawrence broke ahead early at 2-singles with a commanding 6-0 opening-set win, but Bridgewater's Nicole Shifflett answered just as strongly, squaring the match with a 6-1 win to send the match to the third. Lawrence played as she had in the opening set, easily winning the tiebreak by a count of 10-1.
- Both of the remaining matches at Nos. 5 an 6 went to third-set tiebreaks, as Malena Hoover outlasted Methodist's Luciana Forma at No. 5 (4-6, 6-0, 1-0(14-12)), while Ali Keister won the tiebreaker over the Monarchs' Savannah Lee at No. 6 (0-6, 6-1, 1-0(10-5)).
- Playing up a Division in what would be the final match of the trip, Methodist again rolled through the doubles matches to claim a 3-0 lead heading into singles.
- Just like in the other match, the Monarchs won the first four completed singles flights before Clarion like Bridgewater would win the last two matches at Nos. 5 and 6.
- Victoria Trevino at 4-singles was the first singles winner for Methodist, winning in straight sets and surrendering just two games to Clarion's Hannah Schettler.
- Valeria Mutate added the fifth and match-clinching point winning in two sets at No. 2.
- Bri Rado at 3-singles and Jillian Garrett at No. 1 then capped the victory with straight-set triumphs.
- The Monarchs completed their spring trip with a 5-1 record.
