JUST THE FACTS

Records: Methodist 13-1, Huntingdon 9-9-1
Location: Duggins Soccer Stadium; Fayetteville, North Carolina
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Before the Monarchs first goal, twice Methodist came close to scoring the first goal of the match with the ball bouncing off the crossbar and dropping in front of the net. The Hawks found ways both times to clear the ball and keep it scoreless.
- In the 43rd minute, Methodist would break the tie with the first goal of the game. A free kick from Alyssa Morrell from 50 yards out put into the box, where Huntingdon's keeper Kiki Culpepper misjudged the ball as it bounced over her head for the score.
- The Monarchs added an insurance goal to seal the game away in the 84th minute. Culpepper charged and attempted to secure a ball that was in the box but it would deflect off her. Standing right there was Haley Strain to secure the ball and kick it into an open net.
NUMBERS
- Methodist was the dominate team today on the pitch. They out shot the Hawks 14 to five and clearly possessed the ball in the attacking third based off their corner kick chances (10 to 1).
- Eight different Monarchs registered a shot today, with five of them producing multi-shot performances.
- Today's win gives Methodist their seventh shutout of the season, and their fifth in the last six games.
