Records: Methodist 7-2 (7-1 USA South), N.C. Wesleyan 4-6 (4-4)
Location: Monarch Stadium; Fayetteville, North Carolina
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game got off to a slow start with neither side able to move the ball much, but the Monarchs changed that in two plays near the end of the first. First senior Nate Jones intercepted Zach Marquis in Methodist territory and brought it back to midfield before being taken down. On the next play, Bullins hooked up with senior Xzavier McNeil for a 50-yard touchdown.
- A Battling Bishop drive that started in the first quarter ended early in the second with a 33-yard run by Trevon Crank to lock the score at 7-7.
- The Monarch reclaimed the advantage when Bullins and McNeil connected again on a nine-yard fade, to the corner, for a touchdown with 3:03 until the half. Methodist would add on a 39-yard field goal by Trevor Hargett to make it 17-7 at the break.
- Both sides would punt on their opening possessions of the second half. Methodist's senior Bobby Haggerty would pin N.C. Wesleyan at their own 1-yard line with his punt.
- From there the Battling Bishops made their way downfield to the Monarchs 4-yard line. On second-and-goal, Chaz Hirschmann tried to throw to his receiver on a flat route but DeIrvin Grate would interception the ball to stop the scoring threat.
- Four plays later, a 69-yard catch and run from Bullins to Pete resulted in another Methodist touchdown, to make it 24-7.
- Pete would not be done there as he added on two more touchdowns both of which came from the ground game. First, he scored on a 32-yard run at the start of the fourth before rushing for career-long 81-yards on his second.
