HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Methodist scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, the most in any quarter by the Monarchs this season. There was a marvelous 10-0 Methodist late run to cut a 61-40 deficit to 61-50. LeTrice Pearson impressed with four points, a steal and an assist in that 90-second stretch. The run also featured baskets from Jessica Drake, Jania Johnson and Aniyah Tate.
  • An 11-0 Mary Baldwin run spanning the first and second quarters saw the Fighting Squirrels' lead balloon from 13-10 to 24-10, which was also their largest lead of the first half. Made free throws from Tyzarea Alexander, Kadie Snipes, and Pearson allowed the Monarchs to trim the deficit to 26-17.
  • Methodist came out firing early, making four of its first five field goals. Jazanae Billings gave the Monarchs their only lead with the score at 3-2. While trailing, Pearson hit a three-pointer (with an assist from Snipes) and made a layup. Marchelle Willis assisted on Pearson's layup and followed it up with a basket of her own for the 13-10 score.
