HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Methodist scored all three goals in the second half as the Monarchs simply overpowered the Battling Bishops in the final 45 minutes, outshooting their opponent by a margin of 16-2. Corner kicks also favored Methodist, 7-1.
  • It was a corner kick that pushed the Monarchs ahead 2-0 in the game. In the 79th minute, Harris Barr's corner kick sailed to Aiden Sherry, who headed it in for a goal. That was Barr's first assist of her career. Sherry has scored in every game so far.
  • Sherry scored her second goal of the game (and seventh of the season) in the 82nd minute as an answer to the Battling Bishops' score a minute prior. Tatiana Lourenco-Shiber beat two defenders on the right wing before she crossed the ball into the box to Laura Harris. Harris drew the attention of three defenders before she passed to an unmarked Sherry, who beat the keeper to the low left corner of the net.
  • In addition to an assist, Harris also had a goal in this game, scoring the opening salvo in the 53rd minute. Madison Brunson won possession with an interception and Caroline Uenking sent a pass inside the box to Harris' direction. Harris corralled the ball and beat a charging keeper for a goal in the low left corner.
  • N.C. Wesleyan scored in the 81st minute off of a devastating free kick shot attempt from Isabel Neall. Neall sent a rocket over the Methodist wall and Maggie Hunt's head for the goal to cut the deficit to 2-1.
  • In total, Methodist out shot N.C. Wesleyan, 24-8 and took 10 corner kicks to the Battling Bishops' one. Hunt had five saves.
