FERRUM, Va. A non-conference doubleheader concluded with Ferrum College winning two games against visiting Methodist softball Monday afternoon. The Panthers won the first game, 5-0, before winning Game 2, 7-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kaley Evans' timely hits resulted in two RBIs in the second game. Her single scored Sara Darling, who entered the game to pinch run after Taylor Bowen's lead-off double in the second inning. With runners on first and second in the sixth, Evans sent a hit to center field to score Taylor Jones.
- Evans' first RBI gave Methodist a 1-0 lead, which lasted until the bottom of the fourth when Ferrum tied the game. The Panthers took the lead in the fifth, turning five hits into five runs.
- Three runners in scoring position that were left stranded prevented the Monarchs from scoring a run in the first game. Game 1 was a scoreless contest until a two-RBI homerun in the fourth. Ferrum added another three runs in the sixth.
- Taylor Bowen had two hits in each game. In the second game, Bethany Junker and Evans joined Bowen with two hits.
- Ashlynn Elliott recorded her first collegiate hit, a double to right-center in the third inning of Game 1.

Methodist travels to North Myrtle Beach, S.C. for three games on Wednesday, March 10. The Monarchs are scheduled to play Mississippi University For Women at 11 a.m. and Cairn University at 1 p.m. with another opponent to be announced for a 3 p.m. matchup.
