STAUNTON, VA. Rob Wilkerson had a career-high six RBIs as Methodist baseball steamrolled host Mary Baldwin University, 20-1, in seven innings of USA South Athletic Conference action Tuesday afternoon.
Also registering career highs were
Christian Yarbrough with four runs scored and
Anthony Favor with three hits.
Wesley Hall earned his first collegiate homerun while
Jacob Austin hit just the second homer of his career.
This game concludes the three-game conference series between the two teams, with the Monarchs having won both ends of an April 6 doubleheader (15-2 and 20-0).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wilkerson had a two-RBI double in the second inning that scored Casey Nichols and Yarbrough and then Wilkerson outdid himself in the fourth with a two-RBI homerun, again scoring Yarbrough. Methodist was leading 9-0 after the top of the fourth inning.
- Austin and Hall joined in on the homerun festivities in the fifth inning. Austin had a three-run blast and two at-bats later, Hall had a two-run blast. Those five runs were part of a nine-run fifth inning as Jordan Cassell drove in two runs with a single and Wilkerson had an RBI in each of his two at-bats in the inning for an 18-1 lead.
- The Monarchs did not waste time, scoring three runs in the first inning and four runs in the second for an early 7-0 lead. Yarbrough led the game off with a double and Spencer Nelson had a double of his own, scoring Yarbrough and Cassell, who reached base on a walk. Hunter Hollman batted in Nelson for the third run of the inning.
- Mary Baldwin did manage to score, putting up a run on the board in the fourth after a sacrifice fly. The run came after the Fighting Squirrels had failed to capitalize on a bases-loaded opportunity with one out in the previous inning.
- Ryan Hill was on the mound for the win and the complete game while surrendering just five hits and one run to five strikeouts.
- Wilkerson finished with three hits, three runs scored, a walk, and the six RBIs. Favor went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, an RBI, and a walk. Yarbrough had just one hit but drew a team-high three walks as the lead-off batter.
- Austin had two hits, four RBIs, and two runs scored in five at-bats. Nichols went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a walk and Cassell had a statline of two hits, three RBIs, two runs, and a walk in four at-bats.

- It is a pivot to non-conference play for Methodist as the Monarchs host Christopher Newport University for a three-game, weekend series beginning with a Saturday, April 24 doubleheader and a single game on Sunday, April 25. Saturday's game times are 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and Sunday's game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
- The Fighting Squirrels, still looking for their first win of the season, are on the road next for a conference doubleheader against Greensboro College on Wednesday, April 21 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
