FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. It was doubleheader action at Gene Clayton Tennis Center as Methodist men's tennis hosted Southern Virginia University at 10 a.m. before hosting a conference matchup against Pfeiffer University at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs got the win that counts the most, sweeping the Falcons, 9-0, in USA South Athletic Conference action but the Knights did get a 6-3 win over Methodist in the early game.

MARATHON NOTES
- Methodist led 3-0 against the Falcons after the doubles left the court. Henry Murray and Luke Laney earned an 8-3 victory at 1-doubles before E.J. Stolmeijer and AJ Rogers took care of business at 2-doubles with an 8-5 win.
- Methodist was looking at a match point as soon as the singles stepped onto the courts after adding in the wins by default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. The Monarchs still had to win and win they did. Stolmeijer had a clean sweep at 5-singles and Coleman Baker and Hayden Wilfong surrendered just one game each at the Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Jordan Theron and Trent Harner also secured wins.
- The Southern Virginia contest was a different beast. The Monarchs grabbed the first point, thanks to an 8-4 victory by Hayden Wilfong and Kayhahn Alikhani at 3-doubles but Methodist trailed 2-1 after doubles play.
- The Knights achieved match point with the score at 4-1 after wins at Nos. 2 and 4 singles.
- Methodist battled back, however, with Henry Blanco winning 6-4, 6-4 at the 3-singles spot, and Jordan Theron besting Marcos Dias, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1. Southern Virginia took the last two matchups at No. 5 and No. 6 singles and took the win.
