FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. A pair of all-conference players from Methodist have been voted to the D3baseball.com All-South Region squad. Outfielder
Rob Wilkerson and designated hitter
Jacob Austin were tabbed third-team all-region in a release by D3baseball.com Tuesday morning.
Wilkerson had previously been named a USA South Athletic Conference first-team All-East Division outfielder on May 13. He finished the season with the fourth-highest batting average (.385) in the league and collected 72 total bases, eighth most in the conference.
His 17 stolen bases -- caught stealing just once -- were sixth most.
In the same announcement by the league, Austin was named a second team All-East DH after posting a .409 batting average that was second best in the conference. A perfect 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts, Austin also posted a .475 on-base percentage and .534 slugging percentage to combine for a 1.009 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage), which was 11th highest in the conference.
Their 2021 all-region selections are each players' first regional honor.
