FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Monarchs take the home win over William Peace University, 74-60 on Saturday afternoon in a USA South Athletic Conference game at the Riddle Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jillian Peterson won the tip for the Monarchs, tipping it right into Aniyah Tate's hands for an easy two-point conversion to start the game. Both teams exchanged baskets during the first two and a half minutes and tied the game seven all before the Pacers took the lead for the next three minutes. Kiley Hicks' mid-range jumper shifted momentum, and gave Methodist a spark in their offense. Zykeria Jenkins open court steal allowed Zytipha Joines to score the final lay-up before going into the second quarter, with the Monarchs ahead 24-19.
- William Peace hung with Methodist throughout the second quarter, keeping it within five until the Monarchs extended the lead with two minutes to go. Jenkins knocked down her second three of the game to put Methodist up 37-29, the team's largest lead of the first half. Aneesa Irizarry scored the last two points of the first half, to put the Monarchs up 39-31.
- Peterson landed a steal in the opening frame of the third, converting it into a fast break pull up jumper to give the Monarchs their first bucket. Jenkins dropped in her third three of the afternoon from a kick-out by Joines. Seconds before closing out the quarter, Melissa D'Oleo picked up a steal and went on a fast break drive to score a lay-up, increasing Methodist's lead, 54-40.
- In the fourth, the Pacers extended their defense to full court to slow the Monarchs, but Methodist were not phased. Tate's lay-up in the paint gave the Monarchs their largest lead of the game, for a 68-51 score with five minutes to go. William Peace unable to close the gap eventually lost to the Monarchs 74-60.

- Methodist had five players score double figures; Jenkins with 13 points, Tate & D'Oleo with 12 points, and finally Peterson & Hicks added 10 points each.
- The Monarchs shot 50% from behind the arc and 47.7% from the field to the Pacers 15.4 & 42.6 percents.
- Tate recorded her second double-double this season with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
