DANVILLE, Va. Methodist ended their season on a high note beating Averett University on Saturday afternoon, 64-63, in the team's final game of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a close first half, the Monarchs maintained the lead throughout and extended their largest lead to 10, just before the buzzer. Jeremy Mull knocked down two back-to-back threes, his third three of the half to make it 34-24 before the second half.
- Methodist kept a steady lead over the Cougars to start the second half. After posting a 12-point advantage, Averett inched their way back into the game and went ahead 44-43 with 11 minutes left in play.
- The Monarchs capitalized on various free throws moving forward to keep the lead. With three and a half minutes left in the stretch, Mull knocked down a three to make it 62-58, Methodist. The Cougars kept it interesting in the last two minutes only down by two, but Brone Brinson's layup put the Monarchs up by four before Averett would knock down a three-pointer in the final minute. Methodist surpassed the Cougars with a 64-63 win.
THE NUMBERS
- Mull posted a career-high 21 points, and seven made threes, shooting seven for eight from behind the arc and (87.7%).
- Kevin McLaughlin Jr. finished with 16 points and four assists, and Clayton Coe finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.
- It was the Monarchs' sharpshooting that led to this win. The 11 made three-pointers on 17 attempts in this game posted a 64.7% shooting night. In comparison, Averett went five for 17 from behind the arc shooting 29.4%.
