HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In a low scoring first frame, the Monarchs found themselves with an 8-6 advantage with under four minutes left. Melissa D'Oleo's two free throws put Methodist up by four to make it 12-8. The first quarter closed with a buzzer beater three from D'Oleo, to make it 15-11 Monarchs.
  • Methodist jumped right out of the gate by starting on a 4-0 run to push their lead to a ten-point difference. The Falcons answered and went on an 8-0 run, closing the Monarchs lead to two. Pfeiffer took their first lead of the game, 28-26 with one minute remaining and kept the lead going into the break, 31-28.
  • The Falcons came out strong in the third quarter and extended their lead to fifteen, to make it 45-30, three minutes into the frame. Zykeria Jenkins went one for two from the line to give Methodist their final bucket before the end of the period, to make it 55-41, Pfeiffer.
  • Methodist continued to battle throughout the fourth quarter, closing the gap to ten after a made layup inside the paint from Kiley Hicks, with two minutes left in the game. The Falcons were not rattled by the Monarchs, as they inched closer. They would keep the pressure on by knocking down a few more shots, while Methodist only made one more basket.
