VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. Methodist baseball traveled up to Virginia to play the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan University in their second meeting this season. A strong seventh inning from the Marlins lead to an 11-7 loss for the Monarchs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist opened the first inning with a single run homer from Jacob Austin over the left field fence to put the Monarchs up 1-0. Through the next two innings, both teams went hitless, going three up three down in the field.
- In the bottom of the third, Southern Virginia started hitting and scored two runs off two hits, to go along with one error committed by Methodist to take a 2-1 lead over the Monarchs.
- Methodist tied the game at two all in the top of the fourth after Gavin Wheeler sent one to left field to bring Austin home.
- Through the fifth and sixth innings, the teams switched off taking the lead but in the top of the seventh, the Monarchs went back up 7-5. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases for Methodist as Caleb Greene stepped up to the plate. Greene reached on a fielding error by the Marlins second baseman, allowing Justin Blunt to reach home.
- Another Marlins fielding error scored the Monarchs second run before Stancil Bowles hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score the final run.
- With the 7-5 lead over Virginia Wesleyan, the Marlins had a strong seventh inning, scoring six runs off five hits.
- Methodist was unable to get anymore hits for the game and came up short 11-7 in the end.

- Austin went three-for-three on the day and recorded one home run (3rd on the season) with two runs batted in.
- Virginia Wesleyan out hit Methodist 15-9.
