HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the 1 p.m. match against the Phoenix, the Monarchs opened with the doubles matches.
• Both the 1-doubles, Jordan Theron and Quinn McNamara and 2-doubles, Luke Laney and Henry Murray fought long tough battles with their opponents but fell short 6-3.
• In the singles, Theron gave opponent Kyle Frankel a run, posting the best score for Methodist, 6-3, 6-2.
• AJ Rogers, Laney and McNamara all finished with 6-1, 6-2 scores in their matches for the day.
