Monarchs Saw Their Tournament Run Come to an End in Semifinals

RALEIGH, N.C.  Methodist women's lacrosse team had their 2022 season came to a close, on Friday night, in the USA South Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The Monarchs were handed a 25-4 loss from Meredith College at the Meredith Athletic Complex.

THE ESSENTIALS
Final results: Meredith def. Methodist, 25-4
Records: Methodist 10-8, Meredith 14-5
Location: Meredith Athletic Complex; Raleigh, North Carolina

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Methodist got on the board first after Keegan Foyles feed the ball to Mikayla Ramos. Ramos than shot it past the keeper for the 1-0 lead.
  • The Monarchs held that lead for the next four minutes before the Avenging Angels tied the score up. It was not for long though as Kayla Nee became a one-woman offense and scored a goal to put Methodist back in front.
  • Unfortunately all that early momentum by the Monarchs would be completely deflated by Meredith, as they went on a 6-0 run and never looked back from that point on.
  • The final two goals by Methodist came from Alaijah Ward and Rosa Williams. In the second quarter, Foyles found on open Ward for the one timer, and Williams' score came in the third.
STAT FACTS
  • For the Monarchs this was one of best seasons in Methodist history. This was the third time the program has put-up double-digit victories.
  • The team also set three new single-season records this season (Assists - 117, Groundballs - 454, and Caused turnovers - 209). The 2006 team (assists & groundballs) and the 2018 (caused turnovers) were the previous holder.
