MISENHEIMER, N.C. Methodist women's basketball made the trip out to Pfeiffer University for a road USA South Athletic Conference matchup, on Tuesday night. The Monarchs were able to come up with a 65-55 win over the Falcons in Merner Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist opened up the ball game by scoring the first six points but then Pfeiffer was able to get four back. The Falcons got it to within one, 8-7, before Rebecca McGaughnea made a jumper to put the Monarchs up by three. Following a four-point spurt by Pfeiffer, Aniyah Tate tied the contest up, 11-11, after a making one of her two free throws for Methodist but the Falcons got a last second bucket from Tanaesha Ellison to take a narrow two-point lead into the second quarter.
- Tate went on to register the first six point, of the new frame, to put the Monarchs back in front 17-13. Scoring six consecutive points for Methodist was Jillian Peterson to make it almost a double digit advantage, 26-17. With the help of Alexis Bynum scoring five straight points, Pfeiffer brought the deficit down to four but the Monarchs went on a 9-0 run right before halftime.
- Just like how they started the previous period, Methodist came out and recorded the first six points to take a commanding 41-22 lead. Kenadie Hudler made the first basket for the Falcons, with a three-pointer, two and half minutes into the third. Later in the frame, Pfeiffer utilized two different 6-0 scoring runs to cut the Monarchs lead down to nine points, 51-42.
- In the fourth, Jessica Drake made two of the first three Methodist baskets to get her team back up by double digit, 57-44. From there the rest of the Monarchs scoring came from the charity stripe, where they made eight out of their next 10.

- Leading Methodist in scoring was Peterson with 16 points, which matched her career-high. For the second time in the past three games, both Kiley Hicks and Tate finished with a double-double.
- The Falcons were led by Ellison following a game-high 26 points tonight.
- The Monarchs controlled the rebound battle in this one. Methodist was able to secure 52 boards while Pfeiffer had 39 as a team.
