GREENSBORO, N.C. On Wednesday night, Methodist University women's soccer traveled up the road to play Greensboro College in a USA South Athletic Conference contest. The Monarchs took care of business and defeated the Pride 2-0 on their home pitch of Pride Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist got on the board first with a goal from Leslie Reyes-Melendez in the 39th minute. A shot by Yaneil Sanchez, who is credited with an assist, was saved but not secured by Greensboro's keeper, which allowed a charging Reyes-Melendez to come in and finish off the play with a one-timer.
- Just under two minutes into the second half, Corrine Shovlain registered the second Monarchs goal off a penalty kick.
NUMBERS
- The Prides goalie, Sofia Pagnamenta, had a game-high 12 saves after facing 17 Methodist shots, 14 of which were on goal.
- Spearheading the Monarch offense was Sanchez with five shots, all on goal. Right behind her was Shovlain with four, including three on target.
- Carolina Simpkins recorded five saves in her second career solo shutout.
