ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. Methodist University women's soccer wrapped up the regular-season on Saturday afternoon at home with a match versus Pfeiffer University, a USA South Athletic Conference contest. The Monarchs managed to fend off some late game pressure from the Falcons and held onto a 3-2 victory on Senior Day.
Before the game, Methodist honored its eight seniors for all they have done to help elevate the women's soccer program.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Pfeiffer struck first with the first goal of the game, in the 10th minute. Victoria Tita stole the ball from a Methodist defender before taking a few steps and kicked the ball into the top right corner of the net.
- A minute later, 11th, the Monarchs answered back with the equalizer as senior Rianna Orello finished off a Yaneli Sanchez cross for the score.
- Methodist took over the lead in the 13th minute. The senior duo of Natalia Marshall-Hewitt, goal scorer, and Madison Hoopes, assister, worked together on the goal.
- Hoopes was involved in the Monarchs third goal during the 26th minute. Senior Madison Rizer, who is credited with an assist, took the first of two consecutive shots by Methodist. Rizer's shot was saved by the Falcons goalie but Hoopes was right there for the rebound shot and capped off the scoring play.
- In the 50th minute, Pfeiffer's Tita scored her second goal of the day with a shot that bounced off the post and into the net.
NUMBERS
- The Monarch seniors ran the offense as the group took 12 of the team's 17 shots, including nine shots on goal.
- Since 2020, Methodist has won four out of the last five meetings against Pfeiffer.
- With this USA South victory, the senior class has an outstanding 30-1-2 record against league foes over the past four years, in the regular-season.

The conference office has announced that Methodist locked up the number two seed in the upcoming USA South Women's Soccer Tournament. The Monarchs will host Mary Baldwin University on Tuesday, October 31, in a first round matchup with the game scheduled at 3 PM.
