FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University women's soccer hosted Brevard College in the semifinals of the USA South Women's Soccer Tournament on Thursday afternoon. The Tornados shocked the Monarchs and left with a 2-0 upset victory at Duggins Soccer Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brevard's first goal came in the 21st minute after the Methodist goalie tried to block a cross attempt by Grace Black of the Tornados, who is credited with an assist. The ball bounced off the Monarch keeper and right to the feet of Brevard's Austin Huffman, who finished it off for the score.
- The Tornados second goal happened in the 47th minute of the match. An error pass by a Methodist defender was picked up by Tae Brown of Brevard. Brown found herself in a 1-v-1 situation with the Monarch goalie and was able to beat her to the left for the score.
- Methodist had a couple of near misses that could have changed the momentum of the contest. Leslie Reyes-Melendez had a header that just went over the cross in the 41st minute, while a defensive save made by a Tornado defender stopped a Kelsey Burge header, in the 80th minute.
NUMBERS
- The Monarchs outshot Brevard by a total of 11 to seven, including six to four in shots on goal.
- Tornados goalie, Nicole Arroyo, made five saves in the shutout.
- With this Brevard win, the young series history between these two squads is knotted up 3-3.
