DEMOREST, Ga. Methodist University men's basketball made its way down to the Peach State for a non-conference game with Piedmont University on Saturday, November 25. Even though the Monarchs made some noise in the second half, they could not overcome their first half shooting struggles, 29%, and fell to the Lions 91-75.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Piedmont jumped out to a 12-3 advantage in the first six minutes of the contest. Coming off the bench, Alex Dawson sparked some life into the Methodist offense following a pair of threes on the next two Monarch possessions. The Lions responded back by going on a 15-0 run to balloon their lead to a 23-point difference, 34-11.
- With a little over six minutes left in the opening half, Brian Bullock drained his own three-pointer to stop the bleeding. He then went on and recorded the next seven Monarchs points, which includes the three he just made. Each team finished off the half by adding eight more points to their respective totals to make it 44-26 at the break.
- Coming out of halftime, Piedmont began the second half on an 8-2 run. Aaron Potter, a jumper & two free throws, was able to reclaim four of those points back for Methodist. The Lions eventually increased their lead to 26-point, 68-42, with seven and half minutes left.
- In the matter of 16 seconds, the Monarchs scored a quick seven points on a layup by Malek Ngong followed by back-to-back steals by Potter, a layup plus and-one, & Chance Minott, a layup. Methodist continued its scoring momentum by registering points on the next five offensive possessions, which includes Potter knocking down three triples, and brought the deficit down to 12-points, 74-62. In the final five minutes, the Monarchs were not able to get the necessary stops they need to close the gap any more.
MORE TO IT
- Potter led all scorers on the court with a season-high 22 points. Also in double figures for Methodist was Bullock and Minott with 13 & 10, respectively.
- Methodist had great production from its bench as the reserves accounted for 40%, 30 points, of the team's final score.

Methodist will face off with Warren Wilson College for the second time this season on Saturday, December 2, this time inside the March F. Riddle Center. Tip-Off is scheduled for 2 PM.
