HOW IT HAPPENED
- With Emma Neeley on the mound for the Monarchs in game one, the Falcons took an early 1-0 lead with a homerun in the bottom of the first. In the top of the third, Madison Sanchez recorded Methodist's first hit of the game, but there would be no more production from the Monarch offense.
- In the bottom of the third, Pfeiffer hammered out four hits that led to four runs, and then recorded three more hits and three additional runs in the fourth inning. Holding Methodist scoreless in the fifth, the Falcons won via the conference mercy rule.
- To start the second game, Pfeiffer once again recorded a first-inning homer – this time a three-run shot off of Alyssa Barwick. The Monarchs answered with three hits in the second inning (all of which were singles), but failed to capitalize and left the bases loaded.
- Pfeiffer scored two more in the bottom of the fourth. In the top of the fifth, Haven Williams reached on a double to left field, but she wasn't brought home. The Falcons recorded one more run in both the sixth and seventh innings, while the Monarchs remained scoreless.
NUMBERS
- Methodist's one-hit performance in the first game ties the season low for hits recorded in a game. The Monarchs were also 'one hit' by Mary Baldwin in a 4-0 loss on March 26.
- Haven Williams was 2-for-2 in the second game as Methodist's lone player to record multiple hits in either contest.
