CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) released its All-American Scholar Team on Thursday (7/6) afternoon. Among the 1,401 student-athletes were four members from the Methodist University women's golf team;
Natalie Brosig,
Jillian Drinkard,
Jenna Rutledge, and
Maggie Williams.
To be eligible for the All-American Scholar Team each student-athlete must meet the criteria:
- Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher
- Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season
- Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
For three of these golfers -- Brosig (second time), Drinkard (fifth), and Williams (third) -- they have been named a WGCA All-American Scholar in previous seasons.
Just last month, all four recipients were also named to the USA South Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, with Brosig, Drinkard, and Rutledge earning with distinction (3.90 GPA or higher) honors. Additionally, both Brosig and Rutledge were two of the nine females awarded MU's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for having a 4.0 GPA in the fall and spring semesters.
