MISENHEIMER, N.C. On Wednesday, the Methodist University women's soccer team visited Pfeiffer University to play a USA South match. Following a loss in their last contest, the Monarchs rebounded against the Falcons by defeating them 3-1.
JUST THE FACTS
Final score: Methodist def. Pfeiffer, 3-1
Records: Methodist 5-6 (4-2 USA South), Pfeiffer 3-8 (1-4)
Location: Lefk0-Mills Field; Misenheimer, North Carolina
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just six minutes into the match, sophomore Brooke Hunter scored the first goal for Methodist. She got the ball on the outside, by the sideline, before dribbling it just outside Pfeiffer's goal box. From there, she deked two defenders to create an open shot and then shot the ball into the top right corner from seven yards out.
- Senior Emma Pedraza recorded the second goal, her first this season, for the Monarchs in the 37th minute. A long shot by Methodist's Lola Campbell, a sophomore, had to be stopped by the Falcon's goalie, but she was not able to gain control of the ball. Pedraza took advantage of the situation and finished off the play by knocking the ball into the net.
- After just missing a goal earlier in the game, Campbell found the back of the goal in the 43rd minute. Pfeiffer's keeper decided to come out from the net to challenge a shot, which would prove to be a fatal mistake. The ball eventually ended up at the feet of Campbell, who scored on a shot from 25 yards out toward a wide-open net. Senior C'nya Stevens was credited with an assist.

- For Campbell and Hunter, their respective goals were the first ones of their collegiate careers.
