BREVARD, N.C. With limited offensive opportunities on Saturday, the Methodist women's soccer team was shut out in a 1–0 loss to Brevard College. The Monarchs were credited with just three shots all match, placing a single shot on goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist goalkeeper Carolina Simpkins handled duties in net, making three saves during the first half, all within the first 25 minutes of play.
- The Monarchs were held to just two shots in the first half — both of which came during the final 10 minutes of the first half. A shot by Mackenzie Meekins with just over eight minutes remaining in the half was the only save Abby Nunez was forced to make for the Tornados.
- The match remained scoreless long into the second half. Simpkins produced five more saves, while a shot by Corrine Shovlain on the other end of the field was blocked. Finally, in the 85th minute, Mikayla Rubin broke the drought with a score for Brevard, lifting the Tornados to victory.
NUMBERS
- Methodist's three total shots were countered by 18 shots from Brevard. Eighteen shots is the second most recorded by a Methodist opponent this season, while three shots is the second fewest recorded in a single match by the Monarchs.
- Eight saves by Carolina Simpkins matches her season high, also recorded against Guilford.
