CHARLOTTE, N.C. Methodist University men's tennis traveled to Charlotte on Wednesday and swept Johnson and Wales 9-0.

The #1 Doubles Team of Mattew Hurley (So.) and Harry Crokam (Fr.), who were named the USA-South Doubles Team of the Week this week, continued their winning ways with an 8-2 victory over JWU's Millwood and Wagner.
Also winning at doubles were the No. 2 Doubles team of Wills Belser (So.) and Decklan Rayner (Fr.) 8-3 and No. 3 Doubles team of Drew Guarnieri (Jr.) and Christian Tihanovich (Fr.) 7-2, by retirement. In exhibition doubles, Cameron Roth (So.) and William Johnston (So.) won 8-1 at No. 4 doubles while Brady Mendler (So.) and Royce South (Jr.) lost in a tiebreaker 8-7 (3) at No. 5 doubles.
The Monarchs swept all of the singles matches in the starting lineup to complete the 9-0 sweep.
"Today was a good day for everyone to get to play some competitive matches and put into live situations what we are working on in practice. Hopefully, it will pay off as we head into the main part of the season over the next few weeks," stated Head Coach Scott Handback.
Next up for Methodist is a trip to Georgia this weekend. First up is a match with NCAA Division II Augusta University at 1pm on Saturday.
