FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University men's tennis played host to Randolph College on Tuesday, March 26, in a non-conference match, with the Monarchs as the victors by a final score of 7-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist was able to take a 3-0 match lead following the conclusion of doubles play. The tandem of Drew Guarnieri and Decklan Rayner won easily, 8-1, on the third court, while the No. 2 doubles pair of Wills Belser and Cameron Roth had a tougher matchup but still came out on top, 8-6.
- Matthew Hurley and Harry Crokam, No. 1 doubles, were victorious after beating their counterparts 8-4.
- Getting off their respective courts first, while also getting the win, were Rayner (6-1, 6-0) and Christian Tihanovich (6-0, 6-1), in singles five and six. Hurley picked up the sixth victory for the Monarchs after winning on the No. 1 court 7-5, 6-4.
- Claiming the final point for Methodist was Belser with his win in single No. 4, 6-2, 6-3. The court hosting the No. 2 singles match had the same set scores as court four but with Crokam of the Monarchs on the losing end.
- Guarnieri, in No. 3 singles, had the only flight that required three sets to complete. After winning the first set 6-4, Guarnieri dropped the second set 3-6 then ultimately lost the match in the super tiebreaker, 1-0 (10-8).

Methodist travels down to Charleston, South Carolina, to take part in the Citadel Spring Tennis Classic, which is a singles & doubles round robin tournament, this Friday and Saturday. The event is scheduled to begin at 9 AM on each day.
