HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Battling Bishops did their worst damage in the first three innings. Methodist pitcher Anthony Sarbanes walked the first three batters of the game before the next three batters in the lineup batted in four runs. After giving up a three-spot in the second inning, Sarbanes was pulled and replaced by Colton Ide.
- Ide fared no better than Sarbanes against the high-powered N.C. Wesleyan offense, conceding five runs and managing just two outs before being relieved by Xander Johnson.
- While being held scoreless, the Monarchs prevented the Battling Bishops from scoring again until the seventh inning. In the top of the seventh, Anthony Miale forced the first two batters out before seeing a loaded set of bases. After walking in one run, Miale gave up a single that scored two more, making the difference 15-0.
- Methodist prevented the shutout in the bottom of the seventh as Hunter Hollman produced a sacrifice fly that brought Austin Rinzel home.
STAT FACTS
