No. 3 seed Methodist University men's tennis welcomed No. 6 seed William Peace University to the Gene Clayton Tennis Center for the first round of the 2024 USA South Men's Tennis Tournament on Wednesday, April 24. The Monarchs handled business and swept, 5-0, the Pacers in a match that was played to decision.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The sweep began in doubles action as Methodist took all three flights, where two of the matches were won 8-0. For the Monarchs, Drew Guarnieri and Decklan Rayner played together on court two, while the team of Wills Belser and Cameron Roth were on the third court.
- The only games that William Peace won on the day, in flights that were completed, came in No. 1 doubles, an 8-3 win by the Methodist duo of Matthew Hurley and Harry Crokam.
- After Christian Tihanovich won No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0, Monarch rookie Rayner clinched the overall match for Methodist with his 6-0, 6-0 victory, on court No. 5.
UP NEXT
Methodist advances to the league's semifinals, which is being held on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan University, and will face number two seed Pfeiffer University. The contest will take place on Friday with a 2 PM start time.
